Restylane® is, like Perlane®, an injectable gel that smoothes your facial wrinkles and folds by adding volume when injected into your skin. It is generally recommended for treating nasolabial folds and other wrinkles around the mouth, and frown lines in the forehead, but can sometimes be used to fill deep wrinkles or voids around the eyes, or for lip augmentation. Injectable fillers are ideal for people whose faces do not require even an S-Lift or mini-facelift.

The basic material of Restylane, hyaluronic acid, works naturally in your body to give your skin tone and elasticity. It is also present as a lubricant for your joints and tissues. Naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid diminishes with age, leaving the skin susceptible to wrinkles as well as contributing to joint problems.

Since Restylane is at its base a natural compound, it is absorbed by the body, but as it is absorbed, the remaining material fills the voids with water, allowing Restylane to maintain its volume for about six months. Temporary fillers allow periodic touch-ups, revisions, and re-treatments at any time.

Restylane is not animal-based and requires no allergy test prior to your procedure.

The procedure
As with other injectable fillers, Restylane injections take about 15-30 minutes, depending on the area and depth of wrinkles being treated.

• First, numbing cream is applied to the area to be treated
• Then, Restylane is injected where filling is necessary
• The doctor may massage the treated area
• You will see full results take about one week

Recovery
During your recovery, you may experience some minor swelling, pain, and redness. All these side effects should subside within a week after your treatment. Try to avoid strenuous activity, sun exposure, and excessive heat for at least 24 hours after treatment.
